Andy Kaufman was born in `49. Even in 1969 he would only have been 20 years old, and not famous yet.

Why on earth would there be a drum line named after him in the `60s?

I have a very hard time believing these have anything to do with him.

Agreed.. I don't think this has anything to do with Andy Kaufman the actor, but there could be a few things that are mistaken with the info..

1- This could be another stencil kit named " Andy K " and the seller thinks it's the actor's drums .

2- He's a con artist and s trying to make measly buck.

3- This info was made up by someone else and he's simply relaying the info on his listing..

Either way, more solid proof will be required to show that this was a kit actually owned by Andy Kaufman the actor.

Even if it was a kit owned by AK, which i highly doubt, the list price is way too much for a MIJ kit, even it was allegedly owned by a celebrity..

Here's a link to a forum that was discussed on this very topic.. A member claims that it is simply a MIJ stencil kit like all the others, with NO MENTION of Andy Kaufman..

I don't think they are saying these were Andy Kaufmans personal drums. When you buy drums, they don't put your name on the badge.

They are saying this was a "line" of drums named after him, while he was a teenager.

Not a chance. Somebody was mislead, and did not realize it. Not intentional.

The link references his Japanese wrestling tour as the catalyst for him endorsing drums, but he didn't do the wrestling until the 1980s.

Not disputing the quality or value of the drums, but if they are in any way connected to him, it can't be from the `60s.
