The one on the right came with the kit I bought on this forum a couple of years ago. The one on the left was a recent eBay purchase that was incomplete and required work. Late 40s/early 50s I think.

So, the one with the beavertails was missing the top hoop and all the tension rods that's why it's got a non engraved top hoop and modern rods. Heads are a tight fit on this drum, especially the bottom. The snare side is not round and even the American vintage head required a relief cut on the flesh hoop. There was a lot of ring separation on the snare side and some messy repairs/filling had been done. I sent the drum to a local repair expert of many years and he tidied it up and tried to get it more round. The wrap goes right to the edges so it was suggested that it be trimmed back to give more room for the heads to fit. I decided not to go down that route.

It has a little adapter plate fitted to the strainer so standard wires can be fitted. I thought that was quite cool.

It's a good sounding drum actually.

Mighty fine job there! I have the best luck with a Ludwig clear thin head on snare side and Calf batter on my Big Badge "Professional" model. Great drums congrats.
