"Spur Lok" various eras?

I have refurbished/restored about five Ludwig hi hats with the Spur Lok footplate. One has the blue/olive label and is quite the heavyweight. Three are the lighter tripod legs, with flat (not tubular) legs. The last has a Speed King footplate, with flat base - the rubber "feet" are on the bottom of the legs, riveted into place - they're more pads than the 'feet' that fit on the end of th leg.

One has remnants of a silver label near the top of the bottom tube.

Anyone know much about approximate eras for these?

How I ended up with these projects.....

the one with the speed king footplate with the flat round feet is a wfl 1121 hi hat stand. they were used for years and even up until the early 60's. around 63 or so they also had one just like it that had the conventional rubber feet and it also had a tilter in the rubber cup for the bottom hat. they didnt make this one long. it is also an 1121 stand. then right after that, they made the ludwig 1123 model which has the spurlock pedal but is still a flat based stand. ringo used this stand for years and many call it the ringo stand. it was made in 63 or 64 but also for a short time. then ludwig made the 1123-1 stand for years even up at least through the 70's. it has the spurlock pedal but is not flat based. it has a metal cup for the bottom hi hat.

hope this helps some..

Yep, that is helpful -- thank you.

And you're right; the one with the "Speed King" footplate has a rubber cup, no tilter. It's surprising, really, that all the parts are original -- some fifty (!!) years later.

And the others, 1123-1 (?) with the tripod base have the flat plate for the washer and felt to sit on, with the thumbscrew for a tilter.

I also acquired an NOS Slingerland, with the flat based aluminum legs, and the hinged rod. I like it well for it's light weight, but something I hadn't foreseen is that the hinge in the rod leaves a little play. Not bad, just noticeable.

The one that really stands out though is the Dynamo model with the hexagonal rod. I think this one is very well designed and built. Fairly ingenious, that rod. And the parts are threaded together, not press fit like the Ludwigs.

Know the model number for the Slingerlands?

Jeez, I can tell by the length of this post that I am WAY around the bend...Mind Blowi

The Dynamo is a model 806, made throughout the 70s. One of my favorite vintage HH stands.

Actually, mine too. I came into this by way of the Ludwig (now I know as the 1123-1) because they're so light.

But the Dynamo is SO well thought out....

the one I fell into was very clean. A little painting here, polishing there (and I mean 'polished' - took it to a pro shop). Just a great, well made piece of hardware.

Plays great, solid as a rock, not TOO heavy...

ive been playing a wfl 1121 for years. i found an 1123 cup with the tilter and added it to my stand. they interchange between the two. allows some adjustment to that bottom hat for a better "chick" sound.

i'd like to grab that last 1121 version and an 1123 sometime. ive already got a couple of 1123-1's.

The 1123 must have a cup at the top then? Because what I'm now thinking of as the 1123-1 has the flat surface welded (?) to the tube...

yes, that looks like an 1123-1 cup. the 1121 and 1123 both take a rubber cup.
