"Green" Oyster Pearl? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

okay, when I got the initial set I commented, "I didn't even know Ludwig made a green oyster". Then I picked up what was advertised as a "green oyster 16x16 floor tom". The club date kit I got had a 14x22, 9x13 and 14x14 floor. I also thought that those club dates took a 16x16 classic floor as I do know Ludwig did not make a 16x16 clubber floor. So I get them all together and everyone tells me they are "faded blue oyster". Well, hopefully some of you will come to my Drumfactory booth(s) at the drum show and see for yourself! There is no fade under the removed lugs that would indicate fading outside the lugs, so what's up? This set, in person, is green. The year earlier and acquired seperately floor tom seems to have "faded" very equal to the rest.

Kinda strange, for sure. Regardless, these boys are good lookin', whatever color or hue you wish to address them as. See for yourself!!

A beautiful kit! Even though the finish appears green, it is, in fact, Oyster Blue Pearl. It's highly likely that the batch of Oyster Blue for this run just had more of a greenish tint to it. Regardless, it's a beauty!

Every set I have, and I have more than a few, are for sale. Problem is figuring out what to sell them for!! This set, which appears to be green, especially in person, has a date stamp on the 9x13 tom of MARCH171967,

which is St. Patricks day. That makes this "kinda" rare and for sure unique,

so I'll be taking offers at the drum show and am very much prepared to bring this set back with me..........

What booth are you at for the Chicago Show? I'd love to see them.

33 and 34. When you enter the West hall from the foyer it's just to the right.

Can't possibly bring all that I want to but I'm trying to stack up the kits in descending order of what I think are the best and when I run out of room in the U-haul at least I'll know I have complete kits (hopefully).

It's -faded- Oyster Blue. No such animal as Oyster green. The oyster finishes along with the some of the pearls -fade green-ish. Some finishes go evenly cloudy, others fade grey-ish. It's could also be the way that particular run faded. It's a beautiful drum kit regardless. I would cheat toward the safe side and tell prospective buyers it's an evenly, albeit oddly, faded blue oyster.

Hard sell to convince buyers you have a factory one-off of a finish that doesn't exist. I love em anyway! Especially because of the odd green shade they've taken on. I can still clearly see the blue in them though.

Hope you kill at the show! Best of luck. You always have gorgeous kits on display. You'll do well in Chi-town.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Apparently ,Ludwig moved around a little, regarding their wrap suppliers. Unlike now, there were a few makers of quality nitro-cellulose wrap up until the 80's. Do you have any idea , who made this wrap because not too long after , Ludwig was using wrap made in Italy.
