Quite possibly the coolest Christian drumming anywhere

Loading...

So this is not particularly vintage drumming but these guys do some very cool things with mostly custom fabricated instruments. Mark Miller heads up a percussion/ theatrical ensemble called StikYard and it is well worth seeing if you find the opportunity. I found out about them as I designed lighting and video content for an arena event that included them this past weekend. Seriously cool.

Similar except you don't have to be at least 5'10" tall and wear blue makeup. Yeah, I looked into it and I am 2" too short.

It was a great performance and a great experience. Mike Miller who runs the project is a very talented, very nice and very organized individual. He brings a core group of drummers with him and then adds local drummers to fill out to positions. We had very limited rehearsal time and he was certainy on top of his game. I did all the lighting and video programming in advance as I generally plan on a hour of programming for every minute of program material. We used a majority of the arena floor for the performance and he sent a layout of every scene with an iTunes time stamp as to where that scene occurrs. It made my job very easy. It was a lot of fun to work with them.

Very impressive! Thanks for posting the video clip. This would be a really cool show to see. You did a wonderful job on the lighting design.

Thank you!

Actually, neither of those clips are from the show I did so I cannot take credit. That has not been edited yet. It was cool though as it was an in-the-round arena set up which gave them a lot of additional performance space. We included a video floor for the stage so there was a lot going on.

I agree with, Jeff. You deserve a ton of credit for what you do, it's a difficult trade to master, you have to know how to do a little bit of everything. I remember the histrionics the stage and lighting director used to go through at the old Electric Circus coordinating a single psychedelic light show with two bands working split sets. I can only imagine what you go through working with multiple bands, lighting, crazy musicians and all their instruments. Just want you to know I have a lot of love & respect for you. You're a real asset around here. I always enjoy reading your contributions. I've learned a lot from you.

Glad you're around... thank you!
