Some time ago I picked up a Radio King kit which included the floor tom you see in the pics that I've posted.
Although the RK snare drum that came with the kit has the WWII-era aluminum cloud badge (1st version), dating it to 1944-45, I believe that this particular floor tom is considerably older.
The wooden (in lieu of metal) hoops on the drum are extremely similar to those found on the Ray McKinley or Ben Pollack RK snare drums, which were manufactured sometime in the late 30s.
I'm hoping that some of you Slingerland experts out there will be kind enough to help me out with the following questions:
1. Based on the pics that I've posted, can it be definitively determined that this particular drum was manufactured in the 30s?;
2. Can anybody identify what "model" of RK floor tom this might be?; and
3. There are a few yellowish markings on the lower portion of the shell which I've tried to show in the last pic that I posted. I had originally thought that these might have been from leg mounts originally installed on the shell. However, if the drum is from the era I believe it wouldn't have come with mounts nor legs. It's my understanding that "baskets" were used. Also, after viewing the interior shell, it doesn't appear that any drilling of any sort was done on the shell in the affected areas. Anyone have any idea what that yellowish, burn-like marking might be in the last pic?
As usual, thanks in advance for your time and your help!
