Question regarding 60's Club Date FT legs Last viewed: 1 day ago

Loading...

Hi all

Does anyone know what the correct length should be?

I recently acquired the elusive BDP 14x14 & 2 legs are 20 1/4"

and one is 17 1/4"

which is the correct era length?

Also, does anyone know what year Ludwig stopped making the spring loaded leg mounts?

This drum is dated jan 30, 1967.

Still learning!

Thanks all!

Not to highjack this thread, but how do people like the spring loaded leg mounts?

Have they remained functional on kits 50-60 years old? Are they sturdy enough for gigging with?

Let me tell you that trying to put the spring and clip back together with these longs legs really tried my patience. This is my second CD kit with the spring loaded FT legs & my 64 works great. I'm about to try this one at tonight s gig soon but the FT does NOT fit in my 14" B/O Ludwig case & NO WAY I'm taking those legs off again! Gonna have to be careful with an open half zipped up case!

Yup, putting the springs back in those brackets is "counter-intuitive", as chas used to say. Helps to snap a photo of one before disassembling.

I've had a few of those mounts slip on me; hard to say why. I changed around the legs & they all worked fine. The hole the legs go through might get smoothed out on its edges & not grab as well. I've seen guys use small hose clamps as a security measure; not sure if any memory lock-type pieces might work......marko

Mine has the shorter legs. With those it will (barely) fit into its case so even if the longer legs were "correct" (and I don't think they are) the shorter legs are more practical since they obviously aren't meant to be taken all the way off the drum when you tear down.

Mine work great, and it fits just fine in a drum bag when I just slide the legs up. I love the design, it's really fast to just set them in place. I have rubber washers on the tops of the legs to act as a "poor man's memory lock."
