Question on an Ludwig Standard Avocado Strata Players Classic Lug Conversion Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Loading...

In the pic the 13 is as done as it is gonna get (one extra hole), and the bass drum is in "found" condition. The kit has a matching snare, and the 22/12/13/16 set up. A cool project.

My question is: Is the tom mount correct? Its a weird one! Haven't seen any other Standard kits with that style mount. Seems ludwig...but its definitely weird.

Also, if anyone has these parts in players conditon, Im looking. Posted in the wanted section:

-15 Large Classic Lugs

-20 Ludwig Classic Ts and Claws OR 10 Standard Ts and Claws

-16 Inch Hoop--Standard/Rocker or Reg Ludwig fine

-22 Inch Bass Hoop Inlaid With Avocado or pair of SS to trade for one Avocado Strata Hoop

-1 Ludwig Standard Double Ended Snare Drum Lug

Thanks!

Just took the mount apart. I think I figured it out, and it makes sense. I think the 12 was added later. Both toms are drilled to be on the player's left side based on where the badges are, and I thought that seemed weird for Ludwig. Once I took the mount apart, I found out that the owner must have just added another L arm receptor on there and since he could never get the toms positioned correctly, he took to moving the mounts and drilling. To further prove this, the bass drum has a cymbal L arm holder...or at least holes for it. I added a later Ludwig mount there, as well as replacing the old no name mount on the tom with a matching one. Its starting to look good!

I think you're right. Are you converting to Classic Lugs? Or is that how it came?

Edit: Here's a couple views of the factory mount. Yep, Avocado Strata's...

Once you've been Avocado, you can never go back... :)

What's an SS? I will indeed trade you something. I need one Avocado hoop!

Yes. Silver Sparkle. Sorry for any confusion. I figure that goes good with anything. Im still torn though...I might just wait to find the correct hoop. The kit is looking so sweet. Any suggestions on another wrap inlay that might look good with Avocado?
