once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Gary - Ok, I tracked down Patrick Shanahan! He has most recently recorded with these guys:

http://www.piedmontbrothersband.com/home

They have a page where you can leave messages! I left the following message there for you:

Hi,

*Can someone please forward a copy of this note to Patrick Shanahan for me?

Patrick, A good buddy of mine recently purchased the Slingerland kit that you used with The Riders Of The Purple Sage. He is attempting to verify the provenance of the kit and he's hoping you can help. This is a link to a thread he started about the kit at the Vintage Drum Forum website:

http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=41444

If you could check out the photos and let him know if that is in fact your old kit, it would make his year! We're all vintage drum loving drummers at the site, so your input will be most welcome. Thanks in advance for your time and help with this.

John Velez (aka: 'Purdie Shuffle' at the forum)

If he gets the message, all he has to do is follow the link I provided and it will bring him right to this thread. Keep your fingers crossed! If we don't hear back from him in a little bit, you can go and leave another message at the band website. 'Somebody' will see it and forward it to Patrick.

Good luck, buddy. I know this means a lot to you. You helped me out big-time with the Black Beauty, I'm glad to be able to help you out with this.

Geez, I 'hope' it helps! Here's the link to my note:

Let's see if this cat responds...

John

PS- The Acro I sent you will be there on Weds.!

Too many great drums to list here!

All I can say is that I never dreamed my selling this kit would've created such a stir...lol.. Bought & sold loads of vintage gear over the years but I'm just glad we're having fun with it. Part 2 of the NRPS drums story will be posted By Thanksgiving day.. Anyone interested???
