These two sales seem to indicate the prices of vintage Rogers drums are picking up. $1100 for the floor tom is about as high as I've seen over the years. I'm glad of that because I have one. It is tied to a bass and tom though.
Prices on the Rise??
Seems to me that 1100 for a 14" floor tom is not high. They're not all that common, and if you need one to complete a 12/18 or a 12/20, depending on the wrap, you'll likely not run across another for possibly years.
It's interesting you say they are not all that common Hobbs. I was beginning to think maybe they were fairly common. There are several sets on Reverb right now with 14x14 floor toms. I've got a half dozen or so. My red sparkle 14x14 came with a set I got a couple years ago. The entire set wasn't a whole lot more delivered to my doorstep with a matching Luxor snare. It had one extra mount on the bass drum, but is otherwise a very nice set.
So when I see just the floor tom for that price, it seems pretty high. One guy had a 14x14 in blue ripple on eBay for a long time. The last I saw it, it was down to $1200 or so. That is about as rare a bird as you'll find and it doesn't seem that it sold.

Just a gut reaction on Rogers 14's. No takers on that Ripple definitely tips the scale on your side - especially due to its condition.
(Not seeing the one's on Reverb). Which brings me to off topic: I don't trust Reverb. I'm an ebay guy - buying + selling.
I DID notice a Rogers Champagne 12/14/18 that Maxwell had on Reverb for about 3k-ish - the one of a famous marimba player??? I didn't have the cash at the time, but regret not snagging it because I considered it WAY undervalued.
I know that's practically sacrilige saying Max didn't have it priced right.
It really depends on your point of view; I have moved some high end drums recently. Oddly enough I have been making better sales with new custom gear.

Very interesting post. I think it was on this forum that I was reading a few weeks back about "Shill bidding". Are they really going for those prices by honest buyers and sellers, or are the auctions being manipulated somehow?
Up to about a year ago, I thought it was definitely a buyers market. Now I'm not so sure.
