Price Check Isle Number 9.....Ringo! Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Auctions ASK for a lot of money for items. But, rarely do they get those numbers. I'm not weighing in on worth. Just commenting on asking price on eBay. LOTS of sellers put ridiculous asking prices on drums that don't sell. So, be aware when adding variables to your equation. Those asking prices don't mean squat. It's the completed auctions that sold that are to be studied. And even within those, you have to filter out the fake bids and fake sold to get a clear picture. Good luck with your friend and I sincerely hope you come to an agreeable amount.

Upon further investigation, the bass drum has a badge/grommet issue. Looks like someone tried to remove it at one point and screwed up the wrap on top. Also took a little chip out of the interior under the badge (but didnt remove the badge?). There is a crack about 2 inches long running from under the badge. Hard to see, and could be put down to be invisible...but...still there.

Now heres the crappy thing: That will kill the value of the kit in terms of collectibility. People will offer $600-$8000 on it probably as a "players kit". Now he COULD split up the drums and likely get $750 just for the floor tom on ebay. All original and in GREAT shape. Obviously it sucks to split up kits but how can you blame a dude who wants fair money for his black oyster ludwig kit? He is getting Slingerland offers for oyster black Ludwigs just because of a minor cosmetic issue (WAY less bad than a scratch)!

What a tough spot. Im passing on the drums either way because I have too much going on right now and I decided Im not into OBP enough to drop cash on it....but if someone here is interested in this kit PLEASE don't hesitate to contact me and I can pass you on to him. This would be a fantastic gigging Beatles tribute band kind of set (even though I know it isn't the Super Classic set up). The wrap is in KILLER shape (other than the bass drum issue) and though some of the Lugs are pitted kind severely in spots...with a few replacement lugs and a polish it could be top notch.

Anyway...not trying to sell anybody on this. Just saying what happened with it.

Thanks,

Adam
