Preserving old wrap?

Loading...

I have some really nice Champagne wrap I want to preserve. It came off the drums perfectly intact. I figured I would loosley roll it up and just stick it in a box for storage. What would you all suggest to use to get old glue off it without damaging it? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure I can help you with your question... I have saved some wrap as well (yes, I'm somewhat of a packrat -- oops, I think the proper term is "hoarder" now), thinking again that someone somewhere sometime will need some for a patch. I've done as you mentioned, just rolling it up and storing it away.

But, NOTHING as valueable or hard-to-find as champagne sparkle.

What drum sizes did they come off of? What brand of drums? Do they have a white backing, or are the champagne all-the-way through?

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

76 Ludwigs, 8X12, 9X13, 14X22 (2 pieces). Bass drum wrap has some wood on it and 2 extra holes on top between the badge and rim.

I have heard here that Acetone is a bad thing on older wraps, so I'll try a little alcohol first, then move on to something different if it doesn't work.
