possible COB snare purchase

So, I was looking at a Ludwig pre-serial COB snare today, and I'm wondering what its worth? There was no muffler. No extra holes. The throwoff and butt plate were both WFL. It has COB hoops. What would you guys pay?

Hey Mendoz, SA here. Was it a 10 lug supra?

I just got a 60's COB Powertone. Missing pincher plates.

I probably paid too much.

These go from 140.00 to 225.00 on the bay.

Hi,

Nice snare...I sold one-miss it dearly (pre serial) for $900.00 about 2 years ago. Make sure it has the small knob and crimped snare beds though!

good luck!

Theyre fetching only $550.00-$650.00 nowadays on Preybay...I mean, Ebay. very far from the $1000-$1200 they use to go for. Still a killer sounding snare!

Well, the muffler was missing. I forgot to check on the crimped snare bed though, will do.

Hey Vinny, I can get it for $300.

Is it a big deal that the TO and butt are WFL?

many of the early ones still had some carryover wfl parts that would have been right for the drum if it was early. would also be a round knob muffler for the early model. if its nice, anything under 500 is a nice price i think. they were 1000 on the bay for a long time. i assume its a 5x14. if its a 6.5, thats a whole different story!

Hey Mike,

Like I said, the muffler is missing, so I guess i would have to pick up a round knob muffler. It is a 5x14. If it was a 6.5x14, It would already be in my possession.;)

For $300. the 5 x 14 should already be in your possession. Great snare drum. Snag it at that price. No brainer...
