Welcome! What you have is a "student" snare, made by Pearl for any one of 100 distributor names. Probably CB/Kaman. This is very much an entry level drum. Not worth much, but if you are looking for something to beat the snot out of and learn on, this would serve the purpose, just don't let it ruin your ears. A good snare will sound far different than this one.

Carlo Bagapanini

Famous baker and restauranteur in the Abruzzo region of Italy.

Legend has it the president of Pearl was dining in Carlo Bagapanini's modest and very new cafe in Bucchianico, during the Feast of the Banderesi some years back, and was inspired by a stack of empty plates he saw on a nearby table for the design of the drum shell we see pictured. There were only four plates in the stack on that fateful afternoon in May so many years ago, but the President, being the visionary maverick of contemporary design that he was, said "What the heck, let's add one more plate!" At that very moment, as the opportunistic tendrils of chance would have it, Carlo Bagapanini approached the table and informed the President that he was the 700th customer of the cafe, a number considered in the region's numerological beliefs as one of power and success, and as a celebratory gesture would like to pick up his check for the afternoon. Carlo signed the check with his now infamous "C B" initials, and noted "700th Customer" to the side.

The President's inspiration was complete, and we now have an enduring reminder of the power of the folding together of chance, inspiration, and Italian food.

Nah...

You guys all have it wrong.

CB (700) stands for Cindy Billings. I had quite a crush on her in Jr. High (way back in '65). I'm just happy nothing ever came of that since the last time I saw her she looked like she weighed about 700 and had a better mustache than me...
