Have you checked for engraving on the hoops? Sometimes it's so difficulty to see. That may give you a clue. I know from experience :)

Maybe yes, but i can“t find anything comparable on the net to confirm it! Maybe some of the Vintage guys here might have an idea? Also the value of it would be intersting because i think the drum is 30s oder 40s.

John Grey & Sons is a Brit outfit with a long in the tooth history. If that's a brass model from the 30's/40's it's a high quality professional drum that will bring a better price in Europe (where people are more familiar with the brand,) that it will here in the states. I have no idea what a John Grey brass snare from that era would command in today's market, but I wouldn't let a drum like that go for less than $400/$500 bucks just based on the age, condition and quality of the drum. It's worth doing the research to find out. Best of luck with it, beautiful drum. I'll bet it sounds good too.

Too many great drums to list here!

Yeah, I think Purdie nailed it! Also, the longer we deal with vintage drums, the more we also find one that is difficult to figure out, as it never appears in a catalog! Makes the detective work all the more fun...or agonizing!!
