Pioneer snare

A local vintage drum shop is selling a Ludwig Pioneer snare in blue sparkle for $249. Is this a fair price for this snare? Here is a link:

Description says: Pretty nice mid 60's Pioneer in Sparkling Blue Pearl. 5x14, 3 ply shell, white interior. Chrome parts, 6 bowtie lugs, P-83, COS hoops, Baseball Bat muffler, ready to gig! Wrap is nice, shows a little bit of haze, seam is tight.

There are some that would jump at it to complete a kit. Me, I think it's a tad too high ... but I'm not looking for that snare. Want can overcome a deficit.

The price is a bit high high. But if you don't already own a 6-lugger, and it will match a kit you have, I don't think you will be disappointed or even fretting over the price you paid. They are, in my opinion, the coolest most versatile snares to own.

Looks nice. I wouldn't pay that much for it, unless I REALLY wanted it. Realistically, it should be selling for about half of that, but even then I wouldn't buy it...

That's a nice drum. I would pay $200 for it. Of course, I don't buy to re-sell. I just buy drums I want and pay depending on how bad I want it.

hey, since we're on the topic.

I just bought this for $160. I figured I give it a try to see if it works with my kit.

If not, I'll put it back into circulation (after cleaning it up of course).

At one time a few years ago Pioneer were getting 200.00 and above, but right now I think 200.00 is tops unless it is a rwre and desirable wrap in great cond.

That one looks really nice, and if I needed it to complete a blue sparkle Ludwig keystone kit the 50.00 to 75.00 extra bux would not bother me,esp if I had been looking for nice one for awhile.

If you are mostly interested because you would like to have a six lugger I would look at Sling 6 luggers, they are really good sounding drums and can be had for 100.00 - 150.00.

Thanks for the replies fellas! I was thinking it looked a little high. So many drums I want, so little money to spend.....
