Picked up a beautiful Ludwig Standard set tonight - what's the color called? Last viewed: 15 hours ago

Greetings, Just scored myself a standard in blue strata from a local guitar center believe it or not. It's missing the matching snare, but for $450 i CANNOT complain. The real intriguing feature is the classic lugs instead of the usual standard parts. Great looking kit. I'd like to know if this was an upgrade someone did or something of a rarity i got here.

First off, pleased to meet you and welcome to the forum!

Well, it could be either way, but the most likely was it's factory. Those shells are the same as the classic Ludwig shells of the time. The only difference is the interior paint and the hardware. If the factory ran short of 'Standard' style lugs, they used classic. Also, interior paint can go either way. On my 'Standard' kit the 12" rack tom has classic white paint on the interior. The rest are the normal speckled gray. I've seen a number of Standard kits with classic lugs. The other hardware should be the 'Standard' style though.

Please post some pictures! We ALL love pictures!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
