Most of the mij stuff was wierd or what, but there were not a lot of sparkles so im referring to them as "pearl variations"..I wonder if the big 4 back then even considered using some of the now popular "out there" wraps?

Hit like you mean it!!

I remember seeing a few MIJ stencil kits with satin flame wrap when I was a kid. Now who did it first is a question I have.

I like to take a nice vintage finish and cover it with house paint... Just kidding. ( I'v seen too many like this already.) I prefer the pearls. I also like the strange wraps I find on cheaper( I mean "less expensive") oldies.

House paint was popular to use in the '60s and '70s. Yes, I discovered a 62 Strat that was rendered worthless (comparatively) because of some clown who decided that he wanted to paint it blue!!!! I did see evidence of it being a three colour burst in the pickup cavity. The rest of the colour was stripped!!!

My current favourite snare drum is an old cloud badge Slingerland parade drum that was covered in MULTIPLE coats of oil-based house paint.

I'm more partial to sparkles/glass in any color, but my all time favorite wraps are blue ripple pearl and oyster pink

Of the kits I've got, the Slingerland Capri Pearl is my favorite wrap, followed closely by my Rogers Red Onyx.
