Paul McCartney / Blaemire drums Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Here is a photo of the Hal Blaine equipment Roy was selling. He had quite a few concert toms, & a number of Blue sparkle music podiums that were used by Hal Blaine & the Wrecking Crew. You can read about it here. http://www.forgottenhits.com/john_madara_remembers_

Hal had two toms made for each member of the band , which they would use on cue. Each member was sitting behind a Blue sparkle podium . The podiums were half shells w/ some lugs to make them look like drums.

This is a great pic tdennis. There's a buddy of ours on another forum who actually owns several of these music podiums. BTW, he's selling a few of them.

LOL - Thanks Jerry! Never knew such a kit existed, in WMP yet! I would love to sit behind Hals' kit if even for a few seconds. So much music history is connected to that kit. I grew up in the 50's/60's so the Beachboys music is very near and dear in my memory. I didn't find out till years later that it wasn't Dennis playing drums on the records. Then Hals name started coming up on not just the Beachboys stuff, but just about every tune I considered a 'Classic.'Not enough is written or said about the monster role Hal played in rock&roll history. Great photos, where on earth did you find those?JohnPS - Jinx, my Blaemire sale fell well short of what I hoped/expected. Looks like no drum show for Johnny this year. CryBaby I have started putting a few bones aside and I'll continue to try to sell the kit and other drums I have offered for sale. You have no idea how how hard I'm trying to turn my little collection of vintage drums into Green Glass. I'm working on it my friend... the moment I'm ready, you will be getting a call.So sorry I can't be there to witness the Premier of your new drum company. I feel terrible about it. I'm dying to see the surprise you concocted for the show. I have a pretty good guess... but I won't spoil any surprises by running my mouth here. We will do this, Jinx... just a matter of time. John

I think even more should be written about Hal and his playing style and technique than the drums so much of the sound that Hall got was from the man himself and his way of tuning and playing the right way for the paticular song, kinda like anyone can buy a Gibson SG but it will never sound like Clapton in Cream it was Clapton that made the sound I love Hal blaines approach to rock and roll....

A true LEGEND that never got the full recognition he deserves. You would have a hard time finding any two drummers that could show a body of work like his.

;););)I'm not quite sure what you guys are talking about. Hal Blaine has been heavily lionized for the past several decades, & is universally praised for his extensive work. There is a book, a Documentary film about the Wrecking Crew, & numerous articles in music publications. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll hall of fame, & won 6 Grammy awards. etc., etc., If you're complaining that he's not on Mount Rushmore, I agree, he should be !!

[QUOTE=Blaemire Drums;178721]This is for John (Purdie), Scott (Green glass) and Greg (Mendozart).

That is Hal Blaines kit in studio

The second shot is of a custom Blaemire kit that George gave to Ringo as a gift. Cool Beatles connections.

I have seen this pic of the white, odd sizes, lugs etc. "Blamires for Ringo" and have always been suspicious that they were not Blaemires.

There is a pic in Pro Drum showing George sitting behind a normal un-wrapped Blaemire kit, taken before shipping.

So I called Stan at Pro Drum Shop in LA where the Ringo kit, and others were built. Stan helped build most if not all of the famous kits.

I emailed the pic to him. See response below.

"The kit Paul is playing was made here but the black and white photo is not Blaemire...The small floor tom I think is an old slingerland tom with the chrome metal oval bottom....and the bass drum looks like it has re-inforcment rings...Blaemire never had those that I know about......stan."

Thanks for the the info Scott. I guess I was misinformed. I got that picture with a bunch of pics of Blaemire sets including Hals, Dennis Wilsons, and Karen Carpenters. Each was labelled with the names, and this one had the explanation as to how it was given to Ringo. I assummed it to be correct. I had already heard the gift story, and later came upon the group of Blaemire pics alone with this one.

See if you can get a copy of the picture of George and the Blaemire kit from Stan and post it or send it to me.

I have been wrong in the past, but I do know this for sure...Paul is dead

I have been wrong at least 2 times.

But I know this for sure. "I am an Eggman and an egghead"

Will have to go to Pro Drum and locate the poster size pic of George behind the kit. Used to be on Vine St. side behind some drums, kind of hidden.

Have not seen it lately.

Probably have to take a pic of it with my cam.

Thanks for the Pics jinx.
