Hi folks,
I would love to get the input of specialists on these.
Very little info provided in the ad, I only have these 2 pictures,...
Cymbals are Paiste and Tosco.
I Would be able to get them cheap but are they be worth 1 hour driving ??
Big thanks

They might be. Paiste looks nice but those holes make me nervous. Never heard of Tosco, might be some pretty UFIP but also might be total nickelsilver piece of crap.
Provided there are no cracks in that Paiste, it would be worth the drive. I don't know if those holes are original (they could be), but anything Paiste is worth the drive, especially with the outline writing!!!!
To answer about Tosco- they are Italian cymbals and much like any of the cymbals like them, you either like them or you don't.
As I say, the drive is worth it if you find out that they don't pass inspection. It would be terrible if you did a private transaction with no buyer protection and you waited for a cymbal to get shipped and find out that it wasn't what you thought you had bought.
Tosco can be hit or miss. I've had some good ones. B20 cymbals. The Paiste looks like an old 602 ride. Probably worth checking out.
Thanks guys,
I'm driving up there tomorrow to check them out.
The asking price is 60.00 for both so not a lot can go wrong I suppose.
The pictures provided by the seller were big sized so I could blow them up quite a bit but it's hard to tell if the holes are factory or not without holding the cymbal in hand I suppose. The distances between the perforations seem to be irregular so could be their self-made.
Anyway,... I have a old 16" Paiste flat ride already. If sound-wise, this one comes anywhere close to the 16" flat, I'll be very happy.
What do you think about the size,... it looks huge,... 22" maybe ?
Ok Fellas, here's the verdict.
The Paiste is a 20" Sound Creation "Bright Medium".
Not a vintage 602 but its mid 70's successor.
Despite the Swiss cheese look,... it's sounds great !
As the name says it I suppose,.. very bright,... also quite loud.
Not exactly a ride I would play on my home-practice set but I'm definitely gonna try it out with the band. As this is my first drilled ride, I will experiment a bit with rivets.
The holes are clearly not factory and the fool who did it deserves punishment.
Check out the pics,... amateurism all over it.
The Tosco sounds cheap and has a very splashy sound.
I managed to get both cymbals for 40.00,...
Yeah- the most important thing is that Sound Creations used that magical 602 alloy!!!!
You stole those cymbals for $40!!!!!
Good onya!!!!
The Tosco sounds cheap and has a very splashy sound.
too bad about that. Toscos at the beginning were very fine . They were not rotocast and were artfully cast, milled, hammered and lathed. i think, that after Sabian took them over that quality continued in the Sabian B20 Made in Italy line but eventually the Tosco brand became Made in Canada and they became a cheaper sheet alloy with cosmetic hammering. The same very same cymbal that previously had Tosco made in Canada on it now says Sabian made in Canada.
