Oversized Fibes Kit - Rare? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

Pics added - see below!

I'm cleaning up a set of Fibes drums (Martin era) that seem like they are oversized. The kick is 26x14, the rack toms are 15x12 and 15x15, and the floor toms are 16x16, and 18x18. They're fiberglass, painted black inside with white wrapping. Are those sizes (especially the kick) rare? Are they more valuable because of the dimensions? I do want to sell them at some point. I bought them off of my cousin in 1990 and have had them in storage for the last 15 years or so.

Unusual sizes I would say except for the 16x16,I have not seen many 24 or 26 kicks often, and the 15x15 I have never heard of for a ride tom,the 15x12 ludwig did in the 70's the 18 x18 is unusual too IMO.Those things must loud as all get out.Have no idea how the rarity would affect value.

I bought a Fibes 26" BD kit from a music store years ago,and the genius put the 10 by 14 tom inside the BD without much protection at all......

When I got it,the BD had a big piece busted out of it........ :-(

Hi gang - I finally finished cleaning them up - I put a new head on the kick (complete with Fibes logo sticker), I redid the hoops - they were originally stained brown with a chrome inlay that was beat up, and the hoops themselves were chewed up, so I used wood putty to fill in the gouges, and painted them black. Instead of the chrome inlay, I got a white pearl one. I think it looks way better.

Turns out the dimensions on the rack toms were 15x10, and 15x12. The floor toms are 16x16 and 18x16. Except for a couple of minor dings, I think they look killer. Let me know what you guys think.
