Hawghunter, I like the 18" floor tom very much. I know, ludwig hardware with Slingerland drums but I dont have any Slingy hardware at all.

Yes we had fun and the crowd was good to us. I really enjoyed playing with the main band also.

Your Slingy kit looks great. When I think of Slingerland drums I tend to think of WMP and COW. In other words, your kit is what I think of when I think Slingerland. Well done. As to hardware, if it works, use it.

As far as the hardware goes, I'm with Squint, use whatever works. I have all the flat bottomed junkers that came with my old man's Slingy kit that I will never use, ever. For me, the vintage hardware works best for period-correct pictures. Blasting away requires some modern tech to keep the cymbals from flying around, falling over and basically looking like Mars is attacking!!!

Jeff, I was just kidding you about the hardware man. I have Ludwig, Pearl, Tama and Slingerland on my Slingy`s. That hardware did not take ANYTHING away from that kit. Like I said I was just kidding you man. I just think is is an awesome looking kit ! Glad that you got to show them to the crowd and had fun. Tommy

I just have one more thing to add to this first gig. I was a great experience for us, gave me an idea of what its like and if I really want to keep going with it. To be honest, I had fun and I was flattered that the other band thought I was good enough to sit in with them, this is a band that is well known in our area and does a lot of gigs so it was pretty cool to be asked. But, I did not care for all of the heavy drinking going on, I myself drank Coke and ate some really good chocolate chip cookies the rest of the night while watching people get hammered and make fools out of them selves. This is not an atmosphere that I want to have every time we do a gig. Makes me wonder if I can get into a band someday that could play for a sober crowd. Because watching a bunch of drunks get into a band is not the thing for me. Hell, you dont have to be good to do that. So, I would like to inmpress a crowd that can walk a straight line.
