I haven't been around here for awhile as my gall bladder suddenly gave out on me a little while ago, seriously cramping my style. After a week in the hospital and 2 weeks at home I gave up laying around and starting gigging again albeit I have a tube coming out of my belly leading to a bag strapped to my leg. I'll be like this until the 2nd of April and have 4 more gigs to do. Playing isn't so bad and bandmates have been real troopers moving my gear around or bringing "backline" for me, though the jokes about me having the same tubing as a sugar maple are starting to get old.

The upside is that it forces me to play with a more backbeat mentality and kinda obliges me to play heel-down. I'm not really looking to forward to my first post-surgery gigs though...one thing at a time.

PS: my mates brought me a smokey black 1972 Vistalite to play on yesterday's gig!

Sorry to hear about the gall bladder, hope the surgery goes well. But I have to say you deserve a gold star for gigging in those conditions, good for you!

Thank you!

Way to power through, sir. I hope the surgery is successful and wish you a speedy recovery!

...and hey, at least you don't have to sell your house, eh? :)

I agree with the above post. Post surgery is never any fun. Stay positive maybe get some joke to throw back at your band mates.

funky - I had my gall bladder removed about 10 years ago, not to worry. With the new orthoscopic procedures they only make three small (1/2 inch) incisions which heal pretty quickly. You'll be sore as hell for a couple of days, but it just gets better and better from there. Don't strain, or push yourself too hard. Give your body a chance to heal and recover before you tackle gigs again.

I'll keep a good thought for you buddy. Hang in there, you'll be fine.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Yes my wife had the same surgery some 21 years ago. She was pregnant with our daughter when she was diagnosed. So she had to wait until she was born then had the gall bladder surgery. You'll feel much better after and hope things go well for you! :) Nice of the band mates to help you out too.

Glenn.

Gall bladder pain sucks. I had the surgery about 19 years ago. Was like new afterwards. Sorry to hear of your illness. Hope all goes well.

Offer them pancakes! Tell them you have a really exotic syrup. Maybe that will shut them up.
