Original Paint?

Loading...

I picked up this Slingerland snare some time ago. It's painted in what I can only describe as an eggshell white. I'm trying to determine whether the paint is original to the drum. I've seen other Slingy drums in this finish but they're from the 70s, not the 50s. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I may be wrong, but I believe I have seen some 50s Slingerland drums in that finish.

Nice drum, by the way!

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!

Hard to tell if the paint is original or not.The way i would check is take off one of the lugs and see if the paint under the lug looks like in the same condition as the paint on the drum if the paint matches them i would say the drum has been repainted at one time.S/l did use that white color in the 50's.....Mikey

SlingerLynn / Mikey777: Thank you both for your input. I do appreciate it. I did pull a lug and it does appear that the paint's original. I simply couldn't find it listed in either of my Slingerland catalogs as a "50s color."

Mikey777: Earlier today I forwarded a PM regarding some mounts. Thanks.
