Opinions on this 62 slingerland kit. Last viewed: 2 hours ago

If you checked them out and the sound is what you are looking for, why wouldn't you jump on that kit? They are going to be players right? They look great too! As long as you know that they are not "collectors" and the price is reasonable, I would strongly consider it.

I didn't go for it as I wasn't sure how much it was really worth or how much was original. I do know that the drums were re-wrapped and the hoops weren't original and then when I saw it I wasn't even convinced about the shells!

Im considering this one though if any of you have any opinions on it. Looks lovely but not all original so not quite sure how much I should bid.

The badges all look different to me - brass/black ('62-'70) on the BD, silver/black oval ('70-'72) on the rack, and appears to be football-shaped silver/black ('73-'86) on the FT. The owner admits a rewrapped BD and that a Ludwig tom mount was installed at one time. I'm thinking that there will probably be extra holes on the BD due to this, or the originals may have been enlarged to accept the Ludwig mount - otherwise, why would he mention it if the correct Slingerland mount was put back on in the original holes? - just me thinking out loud. I've never seen a "root beer sparkle" listed for Slingerland, so I'm thinking that if the the toms haven't been rewrapped they may be sparkling black pearl...my eyes aren't the best. The BD hoops have been stripped of their black paint (not a big deal, it's easy to repaint them) and the T-rods aren't correct - they are aftermarkets that resemble 70s Slingerland Ts, but they aren't 60s or 70s Slingerland. The inlay is plain black...I don't know if this is correct or if it should be the same as the rest of the kit. The owner also admitted that the hoops aren't original.

That's what I see right now. That being said, I wouldn't pay that much for them. Again, it's your call, though.

I wish you luck finding what you're looking for!

The guy went and pulled it from ebay! Thanks for all your advice. Im definitely on the hunt for a 13",16", 22" in the uk. Im not so bothered about it being original just that it sounds good!
