+1 for late 50's early 60's although I had a 40's WFL floor tom and man that thing was about perfect. There was that period when a certain someone was making Ludwig crank out kits like mad. So prior to that and after that the quality was better.

I have a huge love for most things Ludwig. except the rivet era drums.
Yes, me too. I always wondered what they were thinking with the rivets. Still, benefit of hindsight I suppose.
I love my 60's and 70's 3-ply, and my 70's 6-ply. Also love my 80's power tom kits. I know this isn't for everyone, but I grew up in that era.

An old BB is pretty much as good as you can ask for. There are others that rival, RK, Dyna, but hard to miss here.
Pretty much any Supra or top line Sonor(among others), will be all you will ever need.
BTW. I'm no Luddy fanboy but old BB's are the "(**** are you kidding? Oh Y eah...Alanis Morisette. lol.). Ask ANYONE.
