Hi.Did you ever get this to work?I have a recovered floor tom that sticks out like a sore thumb in the daylight (under lights at night it's not so bad). Someone once suggested putting the drum under UV lights. The kit is a Ludwig silver sparkle set 18 (converted floor), 12, 14 + jazz fest snare. I could get the others recovered or hunt for a new old floor tom - but the drum matches the serials. It was recovered before I bought it.Any ideas?
I believe the newer wraps are more UV resistant than the old stuff (in order to prevent fading). This is a good thing if you have a whole set that matches itself but not so good if you want to fade a newly wrapped drum to match an older set.
