NOS Boxed Dyna Snare Wires

Loading...

I have a boxed set of Rogers Dynas snares I bought from ebay maybe 3-4 years ago. I was taking apart my old COB Dyna with the intention of replacing the old knackered snares for the new ones in the box. Then suddenly I thought I'd better share that with you lot. Should I save the said snares in their rightful box, or should I say pack and maybe order a set of Purecussion's instead?

How much are these snares worth?

If you have them, use them on your drum! Why 'salt' them away? If you're doing it in hopes that they will achieve some kind of major appreciation in value, you'd be better off salting away a rare snare rather than some wires. Put your Dyna back in good, original condition and play the hell out of it.

If you got them use them. They will last till they are at least another 50 years.

Completely agree with using the NOS Rogers wires! My 1966 7-line Dyna was missing one wire and I managed to track down an excellent set of period correct wires, which I'm now using. I do have a set of Puresound wires as backup, but prefer the tone of the original wires.

Just be careful to not over tighten the tension wire screw on the bridge, as so many of us used a screw driver thinking that was how the sloted screw was to be tightened. This was a minor flaw in Rogers design of that screw as it suggested to use a screw driver instead of hand tightening.Your Dyna is now complete with period correct wires geckobeats and enjoy that true sound...

Ok guys thank you. It helped to check it out with you all. The construction is interesting. It seems they've sealed the area where the solder is with a resign. Maybe that's whats holding the snares to the collars. Looks a neat job.

And thanks for the sage advice Wayne.

They don't fit!!!! My replacement snare has one central hole on each end, however the bridge has 3 holes on the far end, 2 of which have been securing the current snares. The central hole doesn't seem to be threaded and is too small to fit the screws. What?? Help please.

Ploughman should be able to chime in to comment if, perhaps, you have a set made for the later model bridge.

Serial number and a pic would help. The first generation frame has two screws at the butt end. The Second Gen frame has two posts and one centered screw at the butt end. Third Gen frame has the single screw at the butt end. Pictured is my Second Gen frame from Dyna-Sonic 3689, Seven Line from 1964. The original wires were shot full of holes and not reparable. I modified the Puresound end plate so it would accommodate the frame posts.
