In marching band, the old Ludwig bass drum had two badges. A couple of times we stuck our sticks in the holes and said it looked like sputnik.

THIS IS A RARE 1965 LUDWIG BLACK GALAXY KIT. ONLY ONE LIKE IT IN THE WORLD. BASS DRUM HAS TWO BADGES. THIS IS DONE IN THE LUDWIG FACTORY. ORIGINAL !THIS IS THE ONLY DOUBLE BADGED KIT IN THE WORLD.( SEE PICTURE # 3 ) ALL ORIGINAL KIT WITH CORRECT ERA HEADS. (MAY BE ORIGINAL HEADS) ORIGINAL BLACK GALAXY FINISH IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY A FEW MINOR MARKS HERE AND THERE FROM USE. SOMEONE HAD DRILLED THE TOP OF THE BASS DRUM TO MOVE THE RAIL CONSOLATE OVER TO THE CENTER OF THE DRUM. THESE WERE SMALLER THAN FACTORY HOLES. ABOUT 3/32" . THIS WAS REPAIRED BY A PROFESSIONAL WHAT A JOB.! HE DID AS CLOSE TO AN INVISIBLE REPAIR THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN. YOU CAN STARE RIGHT AT IT AND YOU CANNOT FIND IT. REPAIR WAS DONE WITH ORIGINAL BLACK GALAXY FROM A DONOR DRUM. (SEE PICTURE # 8 ) REPAIRS ARE ABOUT 3" TO THE RIGHT OF THE RAIL CONSOLATE SCREWS. REALLY NOT EVEN AN ISSUE ANYMORE. PERFECT JOB! DATE STAMP INSIDE READS JULY 23 1965. THE 65 IS BLURRED.

Someone better contact the seller so they can update the description. ;)

Bass drum has extra holes, so it's a "player's kit" now. ;)

Since the S/N's on the bass drum are not consecutive, then the bass drum didn't come with the bass drum. Umm errr ... oh wait! Never mind. ;)

That is one sweet kit.

I had a Ludwig blue sparkle kit that had two badges on every drum. wow ! it was the only one in the Entire world like it, Oh wait that one has already been coined !!?? :)
