I wonder if one can remove some of that rust to the nickle?

Looks nice if it stays reasonable price wise. Does the Ludwig strainer have the same bolt pattern as the Slingerland? Would that have a 3 pt or rapid strainer? Either way nice drum good luck on the bidding. That'll be a very nice drum cleaned up.

I had good luck with a straight Dawn dish soap soak first. Then some Bar Keeps Friend with water (mixed as loose paste) and more Dawn on a shop towel and scub. Old toothbrush for hard to get places. Then finish polish with the Weiman nickle polish. Rusty nickle plated T rods I did came out very nice. Where the plating has gone away there's not much you can do but it will remove the rust. I've been wanting to try the Rust eater products but not sure of it harms nickle plating. Ok on chrome but no one has chimed in on the nickle yet that I've seen. LOL oh well.

BTW I've been wanting to try the Cape Cod cloths as many say they are the best on nickle.

Hard to tell but it might be a solid shell, since its 5 mins from your house maybe he will let you take a peek!!

If you don't I will!!!!

It is not a solid shell it's a 3 ply shell it's a student model radio king. also half of the 3 point strainer is not original hence the wfl bottom part.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

You would think because its a six lugger that it would not be solid but look at long scarf joint on the right side of the pic!! The maple inside looks like it would on a solid shell also.

If you can get it cheap enough, she's a fun one to work on.

Mark is correct, 3-ply. Look at the photos of the shell from above. You can almost count the plies on the bearing edges where the light isn't blowing out the photo. Nice drum either way.
