Newbie to the forums and what is my Yellow Vista Rock-Duo worth? Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Good Afternoon,

I have a Ludwig Yellow Vistalite double bass drum set with a complete set of the table bottom hardware. I've had the drums stored in a closet since 1997 and they really should go to a collector. I fancied myself as a novice collector years ago but have pretty much sold all my Ludwig and Trixon gear.

Below is what i've got (copied and pasted from my eBay auction). I was going to split the set into two but have been getting blasted by individuals suggesting I sell the kit in its entirety. I guess If someone can afford the drums they can afford the gi'normous shipping costs.

Below is what i've got. Please note that I don't have the serial numbers for the drums still stacked in the closet and not yet for sale.

- 22 inch bass drum - never drilled for mounts with the small spurs. (Ludwig heads, NOS silver dot head on the batter side) Serial number = 1654075

- 22 inch bass drum - never drilled for mounts with the small spurs. (Ludwig heads, NOS silver dot head on the batter side)

- 12 inch mounted tom with intact tone control (Ludwig drum heads) Serial number = 1654988

- 13 inch mounted tom with intact tone control (Ludwig drum heads)

- 14 inch floor tom with intact tone control (rare) (Ludwig drum heads) Serial number = 1654782

-- 16 inch floor tom with intact tone control (rare) (Ludwig drum heads)

- 14x5 yellow vistalite snare with intact tone control and original snares Serial number = 1656749

- 14x5 Supra-phonic snare with original snares and only very light pitting. The top hoop has been replaced by the previous owner. I am not sure about the snare hoop. Serial number = 1827546

- (2) table leg snare stands

- (2) Straight table leg stands

- (1) table leg boom stand

- (1) table leg high-hat stand w/original clutch (pedal sticks-I am not sure if this can be fixed???)

- (1) Ludwig table leg throne

- (1) WFL Speed King Pedal

- (1) Ludwig Speed King Pedal

- (1) pair of Ludwig/Paiste high-hats

- (1) Ludwig soft snare bag

There is minor pitting on the hardware and some minor scuffs and scratches.

Hello and what do you think these are worth???

Thanks,

Rusty

I saw that auction. Were you starting it around $1700 on eBay? That's about right adding it all up on a per-drum basis, but it's not really a raging market for Vistas just now. If you can find the person who's been looking for an original issue yellow Vistalite double bass kit, they ought to have no qualms at that price. But I can see it taking a few cycles to get that person's attention.

Currently playing for loud rock and roll gigs:
1982 Ludwig Classic in white Cortex, 24-13-14-18 + Coliseum snare
For quieter gigs:
Early '70s Whitehall Tiger Eye Pearl 20-12-14-14
Neglected but thinking about:
Early '70s Sonor Champions in Rosewood, 22-12-13-16

Thanks bunches!!!

Yeah that is what I figured. I guess these things go in cycles. A few years ago Vistalites seemed pretty hot on eBay. Now Im seeing some pretty cool looking kits hang out there for awhile. I think I will go ahead and add re-list and see what happens. I don't have to sell the drums but need to sell stuff to get stuff. I have an Elements SE kit with the Mod Orange wrap as my low volume/small stage kit but un-mic'ed it has no projection.

My other kit is a mid-90's Premier XPK which sounds great but I've always been partial to Ludwig.

If I sell the Vista's I can get a more modern, less fragile Ludwig kit. I hope-unless my wife decides that a new stove or oven sounds better than drums.

Thanks again,

Rusty
