New Tama Sliverstar kits?

Wondering if anyone knows if Tama's new Silverstar kits are MIJ or?

They have a limited edition jazz kit with a 14x18 kick that I'm interested in but not sure I'm interested in Chineese shell construction. Or maybe the Chineese are up to snuff now? Thoughts?

Thanks! Happy New Year too! :)

The badge is rather uninformative as to where they are being made:

Tama, owns their own factory in Guanqzhou China.Only the Star line is made in Japan.

As far as Chinese made shells, nearly every drum making company you can think of,has been producing drums,of different lines....,that are made in China, for the last 7-15 years. It's tough to find a a drum shell, that's NOT made in China or Taiwan.

Tama Silverstar drums ,punch above their weight glass,in build quality, sound and price point.Or you could price out a a set of Gretsch USA customs,DW performers or Ludwig legacys...made in the USA

I am positive that Sakae Rhythm made all of Yamaha's top end shells as well as making the drums up until last year when Yamaha moved all production ( exc. the PHX ) to China . Sakae still makes shells for their own drums in the same Osaka factory .

True for Yamahas upper end shells, which were made by Sakae, but just about everything else, like stage customs for example, are made in China.

The made in China Stage Customs must be a relatively recent swtich . I say that because the new kit I procured 4-5 years ago for the school at which I used to teach here in Japan was made in Indonesia . I suppose the shells could have been from China .
