New parts for vintage Ludwig marching snare? Last viewed: 17 minutes ago

Hello all,

This may seem like a silly question(s) but I recently bought a vintage Ludwig from Guitar Center. My neighborhood is forming a "party drumline" and I decided to pick up this snare. I was curious to know what snares would be best for this (wire, gut, etc?) Also, what heads are recommended, I've been looking at Falams or Powerstroke 2? I've been playing for awhile but this is my first rebuild. Has anyone rebuild this snare and had success with certain snares, heads, etc? Thanks in advance

it looks great is it a 15 inch diameter if so make sure you pick up a 15 inch wires but maybe look for 40/42 strand....bottom skin should be as thin as possible...Hazy ?

The two heads you mentioned are too muffling. you want this drum to project be loud. use a Remo Emperor on top and an Ambassador on the bottom. Puresound steel snare wires in 24 strand. This will make it a powerhouse .

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!
