New Member Says "hello!"

Just using this opportunity to say "hi" as a new member to this forum. I'm a former drummer (long, long ago) that's now taken up the hobby of collecting vintage drums. I've met some great people doing so and have learned more than I could have hoped for. Nevertheless, I want to continue the learning process, which has brought me to this forum. I believe that you CAN teach an "old dog" new tricks!

I grew up in the Detroit area when Motown artists were at the peak of their popularity. I now reside in a suburb north of "The Motor City."

I'm sure that I'm going to have countless questions regarding vintage drums and I have no doubt that you "experts" out there will steer me in the right direction.

Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Have a GREAT day!

Hey OldSchool, welcome aboard to you! I too am from the Motor City and live west of Detroit, I am a relatively new vintage drum collector who'd like to learn to play just a bit.

I grew up hearing the Motown sounds, but was really caught up in the early to late 70's local music scene. The Stooges were my favorite band, Raw Power was my album - that came out right when I was 16/17 and left a lasting impression. I love it!

This is a very cool site here, with alot of very good members. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

I see you grew up when Motown was at it's peak. Same here. The band I was in used to play at the Thunderbird Bowl in Allen Park and the Pink *****cat in Livonia. Played with Martha and the Vandella's and the Temptations there. It was a blast.

Welcome to the site. I too am just now starting to collect a vintage drum set of Slingerlands. I retire for good in about 2 years and would like to get with a blues band if possible.

This is an awsome site for information on vintage drums.

Nice to have you here.
