Call Steve Maxwell, he can give you some insight. If I were to get a top of the line new Gretsch kit I would get a 20" kick, seems more versatile to me.

Agree that 20" is the more versatile one!!! It would be cool to have an 18" but more and more I don't see it's necessary. I think I'd rather have extra cymbals and snares.
