Need opinions !

I found this mint, all original Ludwig Super Classic for sale on my local classifieds. He's got it up for $3K Cdn,

but is also willing to trade.. I took a shot in the dark, and offered my all original Yamaha Tour (8000) series 4 piece kit in natural finish,(birch /mahogany shells) and offered up my Ludwig Downbeat piccolo WMP snare drum into the mix.

I highly doubt he'll accept, but as we've all done at some point or another, it never hurts to ask ;)

I need the Ludwig posse here on VDF to let me know if what he's asking for the kit is about right, and if the trade i'm offering up is fair to whatever amount the kit is worth? I'm not holding my breath though. HmmmmHmmmm

All thoughts and opinions are appreciated !

Cheers,

Rob

That would be an insane trade for him, no offense. If it's legit, that Ludwig kit is worth 4 or 5 times what your Yammies are.

His price is quite high I think (keep in mind folks, these are Canadian dollars - about $2200 USD). But that is an amazing kit.

$2200 is right in the wheel-house price-wise with that kit. Beautiful. Don't be upset if you don't hear back from him. His kit has the ''Mojo" and is worth more than the Yammies.

Sweet set of drums though! They look like they came right out of the original factory boxes. Insane condition.

Not up here in my experience, John. I've seen Ludwig kits as nice as this go for under $2k quite a bit lately. For that asking price it should have an equally nice original snare.

I would agree with that about the included snare.

I've been out of the market for awhile so I will defer to your knowledge.

I will not be bummed out or surprised if he doesn't even bother with a response.

I have to admit, the kit looks like it was kept in a time capsule ! I would probably be afraid to gig the kit cause it's so mint ..Mind Blowi..However, there is another all original Super Classic in silver sparkle for a more "reasonable" price.. ;), and a Hollywood in BOP, which is an even better deal ! I better stop with all these kits for sale.

It's late and i'm drifting off to dreamland ! ;)

I suggest that you determine if the seller is, indeed, offering the correct configuration addressed by that name. How many (hundreds of) times have we seen people misidentify the drum outfit they are talking about?

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

If you're referring to the Gold Sparkle kit, yes..

He's definitely asking that much for the 3 drums.. The others are also asking for the price they've advertised..

Anyway, way out of my league for now, but maybe come tax return,

i might just contact the seller for the Hollywood kit..:P

What I suggested was verifying that all of the drums in the set are exactly what the seller claims. And, if the seller says that the drum set is, for instance, a Downbeat outfit, make sure that you and the seller are on the same page of the catalog reference for that Downbeat outfit. I own a Shelly Manne set of Leedy drums that has different sizes than the drums shown in the catalog. However, the catalog states that different sizes can be substituted for the drums shown in this outfit.
