Hi, I would like to sell a Rogers Holiday drum set made in Cleveland Ohio. I hate to part with my baby, but times are tough. I am having trouble putting a price tag on her because i obviously don't want to get ripped off, and i don't want to ask a ridiculous amount. The drums bare the Eagle badge and are in good condition, except for some paint has chipped away on the bass drum hoops. They are black with gold sparkle bands wrapped around the bass drum hoops. I gathered that they were made somewhere between 58' and 62'. Thank you!
Need help pricing a Rogers Holiday made in Cleveland Last viewed: 14 minutes ago
Pics would be helpful.number of pieces, snare, sizes too.Hardware, stands?
Three piece with 13" roll tom(9" deep), 16" floor tom(16" deep), 20" bass drum(14" deep). I don't know names for the hardware but i know it's all original, hopefully this picture will help.(all parts are shown in picture). It is missing the arm that would connect the roll tom to the bass drum. Thank you for taking the time to help me!
Also, the insides of the shells are stained a blackish color
According to Rob Cook's book, the black interiors were early Grossman era drums, and preceded the flat grey interiors. Serial numbers should be not more than 10000. I'm guessing that they date from the mid to late 50s, but I'm sure the Rogers experts will chime in. Cool drums, but the lugs are known to be somewhat fragile and don't lend themselves to modern tuning with plastic heads.
You have swivomatic hardware and mounts,I can't see the mounts on the floor tom though. Also if you can tell the us what the paper labels inside the drums say that will be helpful. The swivo hardware started in 1958,that was supposed to be the last year for the eagle badge but they were used on kit drums to 1962,but since you have the black interiors and you have a swivo mount on the very front and back on the right,so you could mount either a snare or ride tom on the mount closest to you, that placement of mounts seems to be more prevalent on the 1958 to 1960 kits, but because of the hardware placement eagle badge and black interiors I think yours are probably on the 1958 side of things.it looks like the BD has disappearing spurs.some rogers from that period did not.The most valuable Rogers are the beavertail lug versions from 1963 to 1969,the b and b lugs were prone to cracking,if all or your lugs are uncracked that will help raise the value, and help determine a value. Not having the tom arm(s) or cymbal arm will decrease the value, because the repro tom arms are going for 150.00 and originals pretty close to that. That's all I have for you,but the experts will be able to help you more, especially if you can provide some more info.
I believe this would be the Constellation set. The front swivo is for the Tom and the back and side are for cymbals. As was stated, check your lugs for cracking. Cool kit. For the record, bread'n'butter lugs on a Rogers usually keep the price down. Yours may go for a bit more, though. I hope no one on here gives you an estimated value as that would be unfair to you. There are not a lot of these original kits that come up and eBay pricing would not give an accurate picture. The best advice would be to just put it on there (if ebay is your thing) and see what it brings. It may be low or it may be a bit more. No one really knows for certain, as none of us are appraisers. Good luck.
thank you, you guys are helping me put this all into perspective. The paper labels in the drums read as follows: Holiday Model Made in U.S.A. By ROGERS Established in 1849 Cleveland, Ohio. The numbers in the top right corner are as follows: Bass Drum-No 10481 Roll Tom-No 10493 Floor Tom- No 10479. The legs on the bass drum do disappear. None of the lugs or rods are cracked or damaged in any way. Thanks!
I guess a good place to start would be e bay finished auctions on B+B script badge 1958 1962 kits since yours are essentially the same thing, with the main difference besides the black int being the eagle badge,I have heard early rogers like yours can have 3 ply jasper shells, and a different bearing edge than later B+B and keller shells.I don't skulk e bay that much,so I have only seen on the forums 1 other eagle badged swivo kit.
