It's a COB, no doubt about it. Photos tell all.

Congrats on a great score!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Look at picture #5. I think I see a crimp on the bed.You are surprised at the value, which means you probably paid very little for this snare. :) Please share. We love stories like this, because it gives us hope that we'll be next.-Tim

Thanks for the help all! That video was excellent. I watched the whole thing. The drum is in fact a COB. I will probably be selling this drum if anyone is interested. I would like to get $1000 for it.

The story:

I own a 1970's ludaloy supra with real bad acne.

I saw an ad on craiglist that said:

"7- piece Percussion Plus Drum Set.

Burgundy color and in great condition.

Also comes with practice pads to muffle the volume."

That's all it said. Price was $200.

I could see from the pics that the snare had supra lugs so I drove over there right away to investigate. When I got there and saw the badge, I could hardly contain my enthusiasm! I knew supras were pricey but I had never seen a Ludwig COB up close before and wasn't for sure just how high the prices went. I have owned COB Rogers and Gretsch snares before but this is definitely the most valuable snare I've ever owned.

Here are the original pics from the ad and a pic of my sad old supra.

Keep the snare and sell the kit real cheap to a kid who wants a drum set but his parents can't afford much.

From robthetimekeeper

Thanks very much! That is the info I needed! Is my drum really that valuable?

When I saw that snare Rob,my suspicions were that it was a COB shell,as I posted on DW.I couldn't be sure without more pics though.

They can go as high as 1200,buy lately they have been going for under grand on Ebay.
