I know...not vintage or even USA made...but am very proud to own them just the same. This is the drum set i bought from my uncle alan a while back. Brought them home last nite. These are the mapex m series 12, 13, 16, 22 n 14. Not wrapped, they are stained, with beautiful wood grain going around the drum. Beautiful to the eyes and the ears. And they look great in the new music room.

and the bass drum looks padded enough to sleep Manny's new baby boy comfortably!

I do like that stained finish.

It's starting to look like a Bona Fide music room in there! Congrats on scoring your uncle's drums. It's always nice when musical instruments stay 'in the family'. And don't apologize for the Mapex kit! They make some good sounding drums although they sound too 'modern' (boingy) for me. I'm a die-hard vintage drum guy.

Robyn - I'll try to make the P.O. today with your snare. If not today, tomorrow for sure.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Thanks john. Its nice having a musical family, we've been trading, passing on and buying from each other for many years. I like all drums.

As far as that snare...you know what i said in my pm last nite. Nuff said. :)

I like the color and didn't realize that era Mapex had lacquer finish options. Nice.

Robyn your going full steam ahead with the collection!! Great to see. Mapex drums are pretty sweet. Our oldest son had a maple Mapex kit back in the 90's and they were some great sounding drums. He sold his 80's Pearl's and gathered some cash towards them. They were pretty expensive as I remember back then. But very nice. I really like the stain color on yours! Enjoy them!!

Robyn, Nice!

This kit reminds me of a the one I gave away last year about this time. One of my wife's teacher friends had a son that was living with his dad in Texas and had decided for what ever reason to live with his mom in Illinois. His dad let him move but was a real jerk about shipping his stuff. So, he has a drum set in Texas but his dad wont ship it. So long story short, I had a Mapex Mars kit i had bought for 100 bucks and really had no plans for it. I gave him the drums and the necessary cymbals, stands and throne to get him back into it. He now plays with the high school band and is loving it. I am happy for him.

Anyway, sorry to get off topic. Yes your drum collection is getting more and more impressive. And it is cool to have your Uncles drums but I still salute you for giving those Camcos to your brother, man that was awesome. Whatever happened to those Slingerlands? Didn't those belong to your uncle also?

Thank you!

I was wondering about those Slingy's too. Those were sweet. I loved the fade on the red sparkle wrap. Hope they are stashed somewhere.

Jeff I remember you giving that young man those drums. Very nice of you for sure! I remember the story now.

No need to be sorry jeff, enjoyed reading it. I think i remember when you gave that drum set to the kid. Thats really cool. Glad to hear he is still making music. Thats what its all about jeff. Good on you.

As for the camcos...my brother has always admired them, and a litl jealous that i got them. I promised jamie they would not leave the family. I have 3 other sets i can pass to my grandsons (jude has his picked out already, he wants the tie dyes)so figured id let mike have a kit to pass on, and of corse he picked the camcos.
