My "new" Slingy 14x14 FT! Last viewed: 3 hours ago
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Lookin' good out there on the Sunny Coast Mark. Congrats on the find. Nice light and good sounding drums. You'll be able to lug those to the gigs without back pain. Should be a winner with the 14x14, but given you have the 16 too, look for a 13 now and you'll have a 1N from what vintagemore2000 showed us this week.
As to 14x14's coming down, let me know if you see a downed 14x14 Rogers. :D Any color too. I'll find the rest later.
In the meantime, a 9x13 rogers steel grey ripple from Cleveland or Dayton era would be handy to have.
Hey Dan!
Thanks for weighing in on this! There are still a handful of sellers, most who we never purchase from, who refuse to acknowledge that the current economy has forced prices down. I felt the asking price of my purchase, less than $450, was very fair. I almost purchased a Rogers 14x14, in blue sparkle to match my kit. That seller was having a very difficult time selling it, and finally came down to less than $600. That was almost a year ago and it did finally sell.
I have been looking for a 9x13 tom to match my kit, as I always loved the 1N kit. I think I'll be very happy with a 12/14/20 setup, occasionally swapping out the 14" for my current 16". The more rounded Slinglerland edges should give the 14" a wonderful warm tone!

Fact is, the Slingland kits have always had a good sound. Brass hoops are a real plus too. I've had several and also had a Slingerland era Leedy that I kind of wish I didn't let go. Sometimes you just have to cut back though, and lo and behold, that is where I find myself again.
Notwithstanding, I too found a great purchase today on the Bay and pushed the buttom for even less than your 14x14. At that price and in its condition, it was on the edge of "no-brainer" given that it would have been a couple hundred more a few years back and I have a red onyx kit of the same era to link it too.
Mark,
The finish and sparkle on your drums is amazingly brilliant. No "ginger ale" at all. I'm crossing my fingers for you that the 14" matches. Rememer to post some pics when you get it.

Mike!
Actually, there is just a touch of "ginger ale", more noticeable on the floor tom. Hard to pick up in the bright sunlight when I took the pictures! Still, for a 40+ year old kit, all the drums look very good indeed!
Once I get the 14" floor tom, I plan to set the kit up as pictured in the 1967 catalog and post it for all to see.

My 12x20, 12, 14, snare silver sparkle pre serial # Niles set is reluctantly for sale. Ebay item 141530672724 (can't get the link to work)
Priced it high, but willing to work for "off ebay" sales to forum folk.
Great looking sets fellas . I love Slingerland drums and for the life of me cannot figure why they are not getting both the prices of other drums and the respect they deserve . In my opinion they are way better than other sought after drums . I should have kept my 60s Slingerland set I had many years ago .

Hi Rich!
Great looking kit! I did see this on eBay. Best of luck to you!

I completely agree! I've got a very nice 1970 Ludwig Super Classic in Blue Sparkle that just doesn't do much for me. It's been sitting in cases for close to a year now and I think I'll try to sell them this year. I love my two Slingerland kits and Rogers Headliner kit!
