My new Slingerland 60's kit in Champagne Sparkle

Loading...

I just came across an amazing kit. Original owner, Slingerland four piece with matching snare in beautiful Champagne Sparkle. The kit is almost museum quality with the exception of some minor scuffs on the bass drum hoops. The kit came with the actual receipt from 1965 for $474. How cool is that. The kit had all of the original heads so it was really cool to be the first to take the heads off since 1965. The shells are great and the snare drum inside actual has a bit of a birdseye maple kind of thing going. The snare side head is torn and I did not have a replacement so i cannot speak to the sound of the snare yet, but the other three are amazing. I traded my 70's Slingerland white marine pearl kit for these plus a little money. They really stand out. This kit came out of nowhere so I do not know if I am going to keep them or sell them. If I sell, I will probably regret it. What are the odds of ever finding something so pristine again?

How cool is this! Artist snare? Looks in great shape and beautiful collection! Classic Radio Kings and is that a DW buddy Rich kit? $474 was a lot of cash back then.

It is the 1N kit with Super Krupa snare otherwise known as The Artist Model I believe. The snare has 8 lugs.

Yes. That is a 51 Radio King and 2006 DW Buddy Rich re-issue. I've been busy lately selling stuff to justify these kits.

Great find!! Original caring owner kits are the best to be had. Looks like you have room for at least one more :-)

Nothing special here but I like them.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

If I were to sell, what would be a fair price? I have no personal attachment to the kit and my goal right now is to sell my drums to justify the DW Buddy Rich kit/ Radio Kings. I have checked Ebay completed listings and cannot find a comparable. I see that the snare goes for about $400 on its own but I will not break up this kit. Does having the original receipt add value in your opinions? Your feedback would be appreciated thanks.
