M.Mitchell cymbal specs

Loading...

I've been reminded that I haven't posted in a while so let me ask this.

Can someone tell me what sizes and make cymbals Mr. Mitch Mitchell used on the Are You Experienced album?

I have tried researching this to know avail.

I do know that one ride cymbal had rivets, and they are easy to note in The Wind Cries Mary.

I'm particularly interested to know what sizes and make his high hats were.

His high hat play was so soft and liquid sounding that at times they sound like a ride.

The more I listen to him, style and sound the more I want to play like him.

He was great drummer.

FWIW....There's Beat Club footage I've seen from Germany from late 66 or early 67, before he got his ludwig outfit and new cymbals. They perform Stone Free I think. Mitch is playing a small ride cymbal, no bigger tan 17-18 inches. It sounds like the album ride cymbal.

Checked out Beat Club footage. Really really cool.

I think he's playing a larger ride to the right that you cant see too much.

Is the other a 16 or 17" crash?

Did notice that his hats look pretty small maybe 13, 14"?

Man he rolls all over his kit doesn't he?

Thanks man!

Hard to tell but I think he used 18"/20"/18"(riveted) crash/rides.

The roll on bright short sound on the very end of Manic Depression feels like 13" hihat to me.
