Missing the new kit experience etc Last viewed: 1 minute ago

As some of you might know, I have paid a deposit on a new Sakae drum kit, which won't be here until September. I am saving money from my gigs and plan on selling as little as possible to make the full amount, which is substantial - list price here is over 5K. I have a drum store near me which I shop at. But unfortunately, they don't sell Sakae. So I had to buy elsewhere. This might sound a tad strange, but I can't bring myself to tell my friend at the local store, because I think he might feel disappointed. We get along well and he has tried to help me find a kit that I would like, for some time. On top of that, the store I bought from is really a one man operation that keeps limited hours and seems to not respond to calls very well. So no dropping in to chat about the impending 'baby' or any of that fun stuff. As a matter of fact, it's a lot like buying a kit on eBay - from Outer Mongolia. The best part has been Sakae themselves, who always respond to my emails; and the importer, who has been very supportive. Still, I feel a bit deflated and can't help thinking if I bought a more mainstream kit, I'd be having more fun. Odd? Childish? Maybe - especially with all the trouble in the world right now. So I'll be quiet . . . until they arrive!

Trout,

That is, of course, a first world problem, but I understand how you feel. You are spending a serious amount of cash and what is more or less a custom order. That should be a great experience. It's a shame you couldn't work a deal with your preferred vendor so all around that is probably a bit if a disappointment. Regardless, once you get the kit in hand I'll bet it will be outstanding and you will forget all about the labor pains as it were.

You sound like your almost having guilt over not buying from your friend. That's natural.Just a thought, did you discuss the possibility of buying a Sakae kit through your mate,or is their dealership network too exclusive for that to happen.?

At any rate, don't feel too bad about it,and just continue to buy everything else you need from your mate.

Or....you just could just cancell the order:D

Wow can't wait to see the photos. Those Sakae's look incredible. They made Yamaha's but even the top of line Yammies never looked that good.

Don't feel guilty.

What finish and sizes did you choose? They have some beautiful finishes and I like the 2 new ones you posted about. I'd love to have a set of these one day. Amazing drums for sure.

Thanks for indulging me! I've taken your collective advice and moved back into patient waiting mode . . .

Mine will be Gold Champagne. I've just found that Sakae sell a flat based hardware pack here for $400. I'd love to get these too. Maybe later . . .
