Mic'ing Vintage Drums? Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Loading...

Need some advise. Have a basic 5 pc Slingerland Set fom the 60's.

What type of mics do you use, do you use your own mixer to run a line, and last. I've found placing the mic's on the bottom side of the drums I can turn them up louder without feedback. I sold my mic's years ago. I've been playing, but just for fun. A guy in a band asked me to join after sitting in with them for one song. Guess I picked the right song! Any comments on mics would be helpful.

Also considering buying a gig kit...any suggestions. The Slingerlands still look new. No idea what there value is. Would rather keep them at home or for small gigs.

Thanks

Tony

I have an affordable sixties Slingerland three piece re-wrap that might fit your needs if you want to stay vintage for your gigging outfit?

Thanks, I prefer the 5pc setup. We just got a Guitar Center here. They have a used set of Pearl. I'm trying to talk my wife into it now. She would like me to sell my other set if im going to buy a new used set. Im trying to explain to her my drums are more in value. The kit at the store with stands and pedal is only 450.00. Its not like we cant afford it. Women. I'm thinking cases will cost that to protect my kit.

If I do decide to sell my kit. I live near Nashville. If anyone is interested. I can email you a picture. Its all setup. I dont want to sell my cymbals but will sell the stands with the set to keep it complete. I think with the snare its value is about 500.00-700.00 as is.

anyone interested post your email address and i'll send you pictures.

If I buy the other set. I will need to sell these asap.

Magnum - If Kevin is offering you the kit 'I think' he's offering you, it would be well worth your while to give it a second thought.

Kev - are you talking about the blk. spkl. Slingy kit?

If I can find a good home for the 59' Clubbies, I'll pm you about the Slingy kit. I thought that one got sold. I had no idea you still had it. I love that one. The wrap just kills. Perfect gig kit.

Alternatively, if you're interested in a swap/cash deal, your Sling + some $ for the 59' clubbies, I'm all ears.

John

Too many great drums to list here!
