I've wondered the same thing myself. How about the all aluminum sticks? What was there actual purpose?Mike

The aluminum ones were for practice. Guys found out real quick that if you used them on cymbals it would crack, splinter and trash your brass.

Useless as far as I'm concerned.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Here is a pair of brass/aluminum sticks that a buddy of mine turned on a lathe...They replicate a pair of Promark 747 Rock sticks...

These are for display only...I would never use them on my drums or cymbals...

My apologies to the OP...I didn`t mean to hijack the thread!!

Cheers

I remember aluminum sticks in different colors with white plastic tips. Around 1966/67. Can't remember who made them.

I had a pair of those. I didn't like them but sticks were sticks back then. I remember they bent and cracked after one too many rim shots. :D

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Yes...they dented with every rim shot. They had a small white donut type grommet at the end, the tip was plastic and extended maybe 2" up the neck...and they were hollow!

You're right vintagemore....Just googled Verisonic and they are still in business. Here's a pic. Still looking for a picture of the Joe Morello metal tipped stick.

Here is the pic from ebay that shows one of the metal tipped Ludwig sticks. One stick is missing the tip. The other stray stick happens to be a Joe Morello stick. I Don't think they were metal tip sticks as ive got a couple pair of those.
