Max Roach on eBay?

Loading...

When does a drum have so many parts replaced that it no longer has the identity of the model claimed? This eBay for a Max Roach already says new tension rods, wrap, 1 lug...but I think that he's not upfront. Doesn't the throwoff also look like a newer model? And how does an inner tag have more wear than the outside parts? I want one of these, but for that price, more parts should be original.

Seems to be upfront with his description to me. Don't think I'd pay that much for a refinished drum though.

It does appear to have the new Micro on it. I was told that the new ones (which are very nice, I have two of them on drums) would not work right on a 4" deep drum.

Also, on a bit more of a technicality those drums weren't called "Max Roach" snares in the 60's, by then it was the "Progressive Jazz" model.

Thanks for that. I was actually planning on building a similar snare, I'll have to avoid that throwoff.
