Mapex Benchmark Copper Series

Loading...

Hello Fellow Drummers,

I have a question that maybe someone could answer. I bought a Mapex set in mid 2004. Beautiful set and they sound wonderful. They are a limited edition set in Benchmark Copper color. They have the oval shaped badge on them thats silver and says Mapex on it on each drum. Is this a Pro M Set or an M series ? Thats the first question. Also, what is this set worth ? It is a 9 piece set. If grading the set and 10 is new out of the box, this set would bring no lower than a 9. They have not been played that much due to me having other sets. Any help or knowledge would be appreciated. Mallet Player2

I doubt that you'll get much help around here. We are a vintage drum community, and don't concern ourselves with most drums manufactured after 1980. Try the DFO.

I don't remember Mapex having Pro M and M-birch lines in 2004---by name. I know they had an M series line of drums that were maple drums, this would have been 2005 that we got some to sell (yup, I'm a Mapex dealer).

I am pretty certain that it wasn't until 2006 that they named the lines 'Pro M' and 'M-birch', and these ran through 2009. It could have been 2007, but 2006 would have been the earliest for them starting with the names.

If they are Pro M or M-birch, it will say so on the badge, in the corner below Mapex. If it doesn't say, it is probably an 'M' series kit, which was maple, but even then I thought they said this much. If not on the toms than for sure on the badge on top of the bass drum. If nothing else, there should be a clue on the inside of the drum.

I hope this helps.

I'm with you, Kevin. I remember prior to this was the Celestial Mapex drums (Mars, Venus, Saturn, etc).

A pic or two would certainly help.

Hey, Thanks Kevin. I will check the inside of the drums. All I know and remember for sure is that I bought them in mid 2004, they are the Benchmark Copper color and that the badge is an oval shaped design that is silver and says Mapex and has the serial number on it and thats it.
