It will be interesting to see how these match up sounds-wise with their elders. Figure an original 1955 Leedy kick is comprised of 50+ year old wood which has been sitting around another 50+ years. Talking old growth wood here, for the purists ;)

First time you did this by yourself!
I'd find it hard to part with after all that work!
Awesome idea with the hoops, it looks fantastic!
Maybe you'd at least get to play it now and then! Mind Blowi
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]Okay so here's the finished product. Last pic is for you, Jonni...showing the diagonal cut I used (the dark is just a pencil mark). I had talked this over with a cabinetmaker I am friends with, and he suggested it. Works very, very well.
Kelly...dammit, forgot to snap the bits for you; they are at the workspace. Nothing unusual, though...a 45-degree bevel bit and a quarter-roundover one, that's all. A buddy of mine actually has a 30-degree bevel bit, but he's 20 miles away, so I just went with the 45.
So...here we have it. The Keller bass drum. A 12x14 FT which was a marching tenor previously. And an 8x12 rack which was a concert tom previously. Client wanted a consolette rail which was very smooth, so we went with a new Gibraltar...excellent piece of hardware. Also a Gibraltar cymbal arm off of the bass drum.
Tangerine Glitter. Mmmmm.....fookin' hard working with that glitter...it destroys matte knives and you gotta work the roughness off of the cut edges afterwards (I used sandpaper). Sure looks perty, though....

Looks real nice man! I use a router with a staight bit and a straight edge to cut laminate, saves a lot of time cleaning up those edges.
Nice work! Fookin' nice work!
You polishing up the saxes too ;)

I think the tangerine glitter is an excellent choice- looks fantastic. Unfortunately, now you`re going to need some really special SKB hardcases if you`re going to be gigging them- wouldn`t want to risk scratching those beauties.Cool1

That's the band? One guy on sax, one guy on drums and the third on bicycle?
I'm not sure that's going to work... Violin
Nice drums and cool color!

Jaye,
To measure and drill holes for the lugs on the l'il bass did you use a special drum measuring tool? I think "Precision" sells some kind of kit for accurate spacing, do they not?
Cheers!

Wonderful work! Great looking kit as well. I have a special suprise I found kust for you. I found a 16"bass in the drum shop, Slingerland, in WMP. The next time I go back up, I will ask for the price.
