Lyre badge snare

Loading...

Hey guys! I was fortunate enough to recently pick up a 7x14 WFL Lyre badge snare that I am pretty excited about. I'm not entirely sure how much of it is original (at the very least some of the t-rods have been replaced) but the strainer lever isn't broken, there aren't any extra holes, and the badge doesn't appear to have ever been tampered with.

The only sort of bummer is that the previous owner has repainted the whole thing white, including painting right over the badge. I would love to try to get down to the original finish to see if it is even there and what condition it's in. I've read that 3M Safe Stripper would most likely be the stuff for the job, but wanted to double-check that that's what you guys would recommend before I went pouring anything on this guy that might be detrimental.

Thanks for any and all input. This drum sounds awesome and I hope I can get it lookin' good again!

A whole set! Awesome! Let me know how your stripping/painting ends up. Hopefully we'll all be lucky enough to see some pictures at some point. I most likely would be interested in the snare wires. Currently it is sporting some old Ludwig wires that are a bit bent out of shape. I will, however, be leaving Tuesday for a two week travel spell, so it would probably be best to wait until I get back to try and work anything out. I'll shoot you a PM.
