Ludwig Wood Last viewed: 7 hours ago

I am trying to find a timeline of the plys of wood that were used on Ludwig drums.

I am wondering if it is mahogany on the inside of the white painted interior 60's Ludwig.

Thanks

most of the white resacote interior drums are said to be mahogany underneath. there are quite a few maples out there though, especially early in the 60's. but most of the wrapped drums from the resacote era were mahohany/poplar/mahogany. duco painted drums got maple exteriors.

Sometimes. It was also sometimes maple. You have to look at the ply on each particular drum.

Yes. Check the edges and such. Not every tiny bit is painted. Seek.

The porostiy and structure of the two woods is different too. Look up some photos of the two wood grains and you might be able to tell which you have if the paint isn't real thick.
